If you miss the intoxicating sounds and smells of your wine fermenting away and can’t wait for the fun and excitement of the fall harvest season, this is your chance to enjoy TWO harvests a year and make great wine from grapes grown in one of the finest viticultural regions of the world. These whole, fresh, fully balanced juices are a great and economical alternative to concentrates and we encourage new winemakers and our concentrate customers to give them a try. Packaged in convenient 6-gallon pails there is no fuss, no mess, no processing misadventures – just get right to the business of making your wine.

The juice is delivered via chilled tanker fresh from the 2013 Chilean crush and is balanced and yeasted here to maintain quality. Because of the fresh nature of the product, just like our fall juices, we cannot ship and our customers will need to pick up at the winery on our Spring Chile Fest weekend in April. The creek and waterfalls are waiting for you and our lovely Isle House is open for tasting, gifts, and great food.

Don’t miss out!Pre-Reservations are required.  Reserve your order by April 3.  Pick up dates will be April 26th, 27th and 28th.  Dates are confirmed and we have extended our hours for your convenience.  We will be open this weekend  Friday and Saturday 9am - 5pm and Sunday 11am - 3pm.

These high quality juices come from the Curicó Valley which is located in the south end of the central valley of Chile. This is a region with great diversity with over 30 varieties. Grapes have been growing here since the 1800’s but in the 1970’s real money was invested in developing this area and this is when the region began to explode. The Curicó Valley is located directly west of the world famous Mendoza growing region in Argentina. It is a popular region because of its relative proximity to Santiago. The growing region is very Mediterranean-like with hot summer days and cool humid nights. Most of the vineyards are controlled by irrigation. The soils are very rich in minerals and are very porous which gives great flavors to the grapes. The region is perhaps most similar to the Carneros area in California.

Wines of Chile - Curicó Valley

Curicó Valley Wine Region

We have personally inspected and tasted several wines made from these juices and were impressed with the quality of the wine, especially the Reds. Our overall impression is that the Reds were all very sound wines with good balance and tannin structure and an abundance of fruit character. This strong fruit character suggests that wines from these juices could do very well going through Malo-Lactic fermentation. With sound wine making techniques these red wines should be able to hang in there 3-5 years after bottling and stand up well longer if extra care is taken. The White wines from these juices were less interesting but, as the Curicó Valley is famous for its high quality Chardonnay, we are pleased to offer Chardonnay in addition to the stable of Reds.

Varieties we will be offering include:

Barbera - dark red, naturally high acid; classic Italian varietal

Cabernet Franc – a little lighter than Cabernet Sauvignon, great in a blend

Cabernet Sauvignon – warhorse red; the main ingredient of famous French Bordeauxs

Carmenere - unique signature Chilean variety; cab family with gentle tannins, medium body

Chardonnay – signature white of the Curicó Valley

Malbec - inky dark color with robust tannins, famous Argentinan varietal and one of the six varieties in Bordeaux blends

Merlot - one of the six varieties in Bordeaux blends, softer tannins than cabs

Petite Sirah - also known as Durif; dark well balanced; good blender such as with Zinfandel

Pinot Noir - the famously elegant, sexy, and capricious red grape of Burgundy

Sangiovese - famous Italian varietal in Chianti and Super Tuscan blends

Syrah - famous French “Hermitage” of the Rhone and Australian “Shiraz”

Zinfandel - famous California varietal; this versatile grape makes a robust, fruity red
