2022 Blaufränkisch
Description

NY - Lake Erie
Size: 750ml - Bottle
Blaufränkisch, a traditional Austrian red variety that grows very well in our region, is a consistently interesting wine. This latest vintage expresses aromas of cranberries and dried flowers with medium-full body and soft, velvety tannins. Luxurious cherry, black plum, and tobacco leaf aromatics harmonizing with dark chocolate and vanilla flavors are also characteristic. This exceptional wine won the highest Platinum Award at the prestigious 2025 Monterey International Wine Competition. See what Competition Director, Rich Cook had to say:
“A distinctive nose of orange zest and talc kicks things off here, and it translates to a bright berry and cola driven flavor profile with some tobacco hints supporting the fruit. It won’t hurt to chill this a little bit to accentuate its freshness. As I often like to remind myself, don’t be put off by a wine just because the name is difficult to pronounce or the place it comes from seems odd - just dive in and see what’s there for you.” 94 Points
Serve with a nice, hearty stew or pasta with a tomato or vinegar-based sauce. This beautifully ruby colored wine also makes a very nice base for sangria.
