We have some great new wine releases that are must trys!

The harsh winter conditions in 2014 and 2015 decimated many of our best vineyards and we had little or no crop of some of our favorite varieties in those years. By the 2016 harvest most of those vineyards had largely recovered and 2016 was a very good vintage as we were blessed with wonderful conditions. We are very excited to be now releasing some wonderful new wines from the 2016 vintage - some very missed old friends like Cabernet Franc, Dornfelder, Pinot Noir, and Noiret, a brand new dry red blend, Ripper Red, fantastic  new editions  of Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio, and of course the Irresistable Little Kisses in a perfect size that can't be passed up. We are really excited about our first new offering from the 2017 vintage - Scarlet Kisses, an exquisite ice-style dessert wine made from Cabernet Franc. This small batch limited edition new member of our Kisses family is a must try and it won't last long!

Scarlet Kisses

Just in time for Valentines Day, this exquisite ice-style wine made from Cabernet Franc showcases beautiful aromas and flavors of fresh cranberry with a touch of cherry and white chocolate.   The 2017 vintage growing conditions were exceptionally good so we decided this was the perfect year to hold part of our Cab Franc vineyard for a small quantity limited release dessert wine.

2016 Cabernet Franc

Consistently one of our best varietals, our phenomenal 2013 vintage was honored as Pennsylvania’s Best Wine, and we think this version from the great 2016 vintage will be even better. Deep base notes of raspberry, capsicum and mocha open up to aromas of crushed herbs and cedar. Rich complexity and subtle tannins have developed from 10 months aging in new premium Mercier French oak barrels.  Serve at cool room temperature with mushroom risotto, lightly marinated meats, game, or hard cheeses.

2016 Dornfelder

Available locally only at PIWC, this dry, medium-bodied red is a true hidden gem and has been highly awarded at competitions over the years. Our 2011 vintage was selected as one of Pennsylvania’s Top 10 Wines. This German variety has displayed an unrivaled speed of expansion in the vineyard industry and grows wonderfully in our region. Our Dornfelder was aged in both French and American oak barrels, boasting hints of rich berries and aromatic spices. Ending in a pleasant dried-cherry and light tannin finish, this vintage can be enjoyed nicely on its own or paired with game and red meat cuts.

2016 Pinot Noir

Just bottled! This exceptional Pinot Noir vintage showcases lively aromas of strawberry, raspberry and black cherry grounded with earthy sandalwood and leather notes. The wine has a round, full bodied structure complemented by silky tannins. Grown in one of the premier Pinot Noir regions in the East, this exquisite wine was aged for 12 months in premium French oak barrels to achieve a refined, light oakiness nicely balanced with fruit.

When it comes to food pairings, this dry red is very versatile; lean or smoked meats, creamy buttery dishes and Asian entrees are all good partners.

2016 Chardonnay Cuveé Reserve

Our classically styled reserve Chardonnay was aged 11months in premium Mercier French oak puncheons to provide an exceptionally refined oak infusion and optimal balance between toasty oak and citrus and melon highlights. Puncheons have a much higher ratio of volume to wood surface so the oak aging is much more delicate and balanced than with standard barrels. The finish is soft and creamy and pleasantly smooth, yet dry. Pairs well with rich seafood and light creamy sauces, as well as lightly grilled white meats and fish.

2016 Noiret

This delightful everyday dry red wine comes from a relatively new French Hybrid wine grape variety. Noiret is one of the best among the latest generation of high-quality hybrids that are achieving character and refinement on par with traditional Vitis vinifera varieties. A definite must-try. Our vintage was aged for 12 months in American oak barrels, adding nice depth to its berry, black pepper, and mint characteristics. Its smooth tannin finish complements classic Italian dishes or hot and spicy meals such as blackened fish or jambalaya.

2016 Pinot Grigio

This delightful crisp, dry white wine showcases a lovely clear, pale lemon color with aromas of tropical fruit and soft notes of ripe pear. This Pinot Grigio vintage, with the clarity of the fruit aromas and bright and crisp finish, is in the style of Italy’s rendition of this very versatile variety rather than its French style cousin Pinot Gris.  Enjoy this versatile bright, fruity wine slightly chilled with a broad range of veal, pork, poultry and seafood dishes.

Ripper Red

The terribly harsh winters of 2014 and 2015 wiped out our local Syrah vineyards and left us in a pickle because the Syrah was so good and we miss it. So, we turned to our friends Down Under and made a really nice Shiraz from the wonderful Aussie juices we have been importing.  Ripper Red brings two great complementary wines together – our Down-Under Shiraz and local Noiret. The result a fantastic blend which in Australia, they’d say was a ripper. Ripper Red is intensely colored with great berry aromas, light oak, a bit of pepper, and a long, lightly tannic finish.

So fire up the barbie, mate, and enjoy with all manner of grilled meats. Drink, Enjoy, Repeat.
