Saudade. Saudade (So-dah-jay) is a part of our premium “50” Series, created in honor and celebration of our 50th vintage and our founder, Doug Moorhead. We have created an exquisite and masterful Bordeaux style blend – Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot – selected from three of our best local vineyards. Saudade is the synthesis of 5 decades experience tending vines and making wines in the Lake Erie AVA. It is round and exceptionally well-balanced with firm tannins and a multi-layered flavor profile including notes of blackberry, black currant, anise/fennel, tobacco leaf, olive, and subtle vanilla. Saudade has a lovely deep garnet color with medium-full body and a velvety mouth feel with a luscious oak-fruit balance. Enjoy with grilled and roasted beef and lamb with garlic and rosemary, veal and venison, steak pies and hearty stews. Also pairs nicely with mushrooms, haricot verts, bacon and eggs, and hard aged cheeses.
Cabernet Franc. Consistently one of our best varietals, previous vintages have been honored with many Gold medals and our 2013 vintage was chosen as Pennsylvania’s Best Wine. This version from the phenomenal 2020 vintage is carrying on the tradition of excellence with 90 Points and a Gold medal at the International Women's Wine Competition in Sonoma, CA. Deep base notes of raspberry, capsicum and mocha open up to aromas of crushed herbs and cedar. Rich complexity and subtle tannins have developed from 13 months aging in new premium French oak barrels.
Pinot Noir. 91 Points and Gold at Monterey International Wine Competition. Grown in one of the premier Pinot Noir vineyards in our region, this exquisite wine showcases lively aromas of strawberry, raspberry and black cherry grounded with earthy sandalwood and leather notes. The wine has a round, medium-full bodied structure complemented by silky tannins. Aged for 20 months in premium French oak puncheons to achieve a refined, light oakiness nicely balanced with fruit. A versatile food partner; try with lean or smoked meats, creamy buttery dishes and Asian entrees.
Teroldego. Teroldego originates in the cool-climate, mountainous Trentino region of northern Italy. Cultivated in Italy for hundreds of years, it is an exciting new varietal for us that shows real promise in our region's vineyards. Our vintage expresses lovely deep color and robust fruit characteristic of the variety buttressed by a delightful light tannin structure from 11 months aging in new French oak barrels. This exquisite vintage has earned 91 Points and Gold medal at the Eastern International Wine Competition in Santa Rosa, CA and has been selected as Best Pennsylvania Red Wine at Pennsylvania's Top 10 Wines Competition.
