While there is no substitute for good grapes and juice, and diligent wine making practices, there are times when the addition of additives and chemicals is necessary or desirable to achieve the wine you desire. You may need these Chemicals and wine Additives for various purposes throughout the winemaking process, such as assisting the fermentation process with the addition of yeast nutrients or enhancers, adjusting SO2 levels, or adjusting acid levels.  Becoming familiar with what winemaking chemicals and additives can and cannot deliver will provide the winemaker with valuable tools that will aid in producing good and great wine.
